A small weaving house producing wool rugs, runners, and throws on traditional horizontal looms, working mostly in undyed and naturally dyed wool.
Simorgh Weaving runs three horizontal ground looms, each staffed by two weavers working opposite ends of the same piece — a setup that lets the workshop produce a small rug in about two weeks.
Wool comes from a herding family the workshop has worked with for over a decade; it's hand-spun before weaving, which gives the finished pieces a slightly irregular, textured surface.
Most pieces use natural, undyed wool in its range of browns, greys, and creams; when color is added, it comes from walnut husk, madder root, and pomegranate rind dyes mixed in-house.
The workshop's runners and throws are woven on the same looms as its rugs, just at narrower widths, which keeps the weave density and hand-feel consistent across the whole product line.
